Spring is finally here in Franklin, and that means warmer temps, longer drives, and plenty of road trips through Middle Tennessee. But before you roll down the windows and enjoy the season, it’s worth giving your vehicle a quick once-over after the beating winter put on it.
Here are five checks we recommend every spring:
1. Tires. Cold weather causes tire pressure to drop, and fluctuating temps can accelerate wear. Check your PSI and inspect the tread depth. If your tires made it through winter looking rough, spring is the right time to replace them before summer heat accelerates the damage.
2. Battery. Cold weather is hard on batteries. Spring is a great time to have yours tested — most batteries last 3–5 years, and a battery that barely got you through winter may not survive a hot Tennessee summer.
3. Brakes. If you heard any squealing or grinding over the past few months, don’t ignore it now that roads are clear. Have your brake pads and rotors inspected so you’re confident when summer traffic picks up.
4. Fluids. Check your oil, coolant, brake fluid, and windshield washer fluid. With warmer temps coming, your cooling system is especially important — a low or dirty coolant is one of the top reasons cars overheat in summer.
5. Wiper Blades. Spring means rain showers. If your wipers are streaking or skipping, replace them before the storms hit. At Reliable Automotive in Franklin, we make it easy to knock out all five of these checks in one visit. Schedule your spring inspection today and head into the season with confidence.
